Golden medal for Milan Vader in GreecePublished on: 8 oktober 2018
Offroad — Milan Vader managed to finish first in the General Classification of the KOS ISLAND MTB UCI XCS Stage C2 Races. Vaders teammate from Habitat Mountain bike Team, Kevin Panhuyzen, went home with the bronze medal.
The riders of the Habitat Mountain bike Team managed to get through the 3-day stages with a prologue to the highest point on Kos in Zia and the subsequent marathon race. On the Friday, Vader finished fourth, half a second behind number 3 Maximilian Foidl (Austria).
The marathon ride on Saturday took place in the beautiful Zia mountains of Kos. After this hard ride Kevin Panhuyzen won second place and Milan Vader became the third.
The last stage, a short track, took place in the city centre of Agora. Vader and Panhuyzen raced with a good team tactic. This teamwork resulted in a second place for Milan and the third place for Kevin. With the UCI points they got with the 3 stages in Kos, Milan Vader finished first in the General Classification, while Kevin Panhuyzen managed to get the third place.
Both of the guys are looking back in a satisfied mood: “It is done, the last race of the season. I was eight seconds behind Bartlomiej Wawak after the time track and the cross-country from last days. We had a great race today. Had some luck in the short race of 20 minutes.” According to Milan Vader.
"The competition went very well," said Panhuyzen. "It was a fast track. I mainly tried to get in safely, because the course was quite difficult because of the passages about an old fort. We have been able to finish the season so fantastically in the nice weather with nice results. It was mega tough, but I think we can be satisfied with the entire team result and the UCI points. Our mission has succeeded."
